Dropside truck finance spreads the cost of a new or used dropside truck over fixed monthly repayments, rather than paying the full purchase price upfront.
Why scaffolding contractors finance dropside trucks
A dropside truck is one of the hardest-working vehicles on a scaffolding fleet: flat load bed, drop-down sides, built for loading and unloading boards, tube and fittings on site. When one goes down, or a contract outgrows the fleet you’ve got, buying outright isn’t always realistic. Dropside truck finance spreads the cost over fixed monthly repayments so a new or replacement vehicle doesn’t have to come out of working capital.
What you can fund with dropside truck finance
- New and used dropside trucks and flatbeds
- 3.5 tonne and larger dropside vehicles

FAQs about dropside truck finance
Dropside truck finance spreads the cost of a new or used dropside truck over fixed monthly repayments, rather than paying the full purchase price upfront. It works in the same way as other vehicle asset finance, structured around commercial vehicles used by scaffolding and construction businesses.
Yes. Used dropside trucks bought from a dealer or, in many cases, a private sale, can be financed, subject to the age, condition and value of the vehicle and standard lender criteria.
This depends on the weight of the vehicle. Standard car licence holders can typically drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes; anything heavier usually requires the appropriate category on your licence, such as C1 or C. An Operator’s Licence is also required for trucks over 7.5 tonnes. Always check the specific vehicle’s weight and your own licence categories before committing to a purchase.
Low or zero deposit options are often available, depending on the lender and the strength of your application. Putting down a deposit can reduce your monthly repayments, but it isn’t always required to get approved.
Yes. Many scaffolding contractors finance a dropside truck as part of a wider package covering materials, other vehicles or equipment. Speak to our team about structuring finance across more than one asset.
