Getting Started

Scaffold Finance is a specialist finance broker built specifically for scaffolding contractors and construction businesses across the UK. We arrange funding for equipment, vehicles, tax bills, working capital and more, searching a panel of 50+ lenders to find the right option for your business.

Scaffold Finance is built for UK limited companies operating in the scaffolding and construction sector. We work with businesses at all stages, from contractors who have recently started trading through to established firms looking to expand their equipment, fleet or working capital. If your business is in the scaffolding trade and you need finance, we are the right people to talk to.

The quickest way to get started is to submit an enquiry through our website. Tell us what you need to fund and a few basic details about your business. Our team will come back to you with suitable options, usually within 60 minutes during business hours.

Once we receive your enquiry, a member of our team will review your details and identify the most suitable lenders from our panel. We will contact you with clear options and walk you through the next steps. There is no pressure and no obligation at this stage.

None at all. Getting a quote is completely free and does not commit you to anything. You can review your options, ask questions and take the time you need before making any decision.

An initial enquiry with us does not affect your credit score. A full credit search may be carried out later in the process if you decide to proceed with a formal application, and we will make this clear before it happens.

Scaffolding Finance

Scaffolding finance can be used to fund tubes, boards, fittings, system scaffolding, safety decking, temporary roof systems, access equipment, stair towers, loading bays, sheeting and netting, and site safety equipment. It can also be used alongside vehicle finance for scaffolding trucks and vans.

Scaffolding finance allows you to spread the cost of equipment or materials over fixed monthly repayments rather than paying the full amount upfront. Once approved, the lender pays the supplier directly and you repay the finance over an agreed term, typically between 12 and 60 months.

Scaffolding finance funding typically starts from around £3,000 and can scale up to £1 million, depending on the type of finance, the assets being funded and the strength of your application. There is no fixed upper limit and larger amounts can be considered for the right business and circumstances.

Yes. Both new and used scaffolding equipment can often be funded, subject to lender criteria and the condition of the assets. Many contractors use finance when purchasing used tube and fittings, system scaffolding or access equipment.

Scaffolding finance can be arranged quickly. Quotes are often available within 60 minutes of your enquiry, and funding decisions are commonly made within 24 hours once full details have been received. The exact timeframe depends on the type of finance and the documentation required.

Yes, newer businesses can often be considered. Lenders look at the overall strength of the application, including the director’s experience, contracts secured and projected income. Being newly established does not automatically rule you out.

No single minimum credit score is required for scaffolding finance. Lenders review several factors including trading history, affordability, contracts secured and the overall strength of the business. Even if you have experienced credit challenges in the past, finance options may still be available depending on your circumstances.

Vehicle Finance

We can arrange finance for a wide range of vehicles used in the scaffolding trade, including vans, flatbed trucks, HGVs, tippers and other commercial vehicles. If it is used in the running of your scaffolding business, we can look at financing it.

Yes. Both new and used vehicles can be considered for finance, subject to lender criteria and the age and condition of the vehicle.

With hire purchase, you own the vehicle outright at the end of the agreement once all repayments have been made. With a finance lease, the lender retains ownership and you make payments to use the vehicle over the term. The right option depends on your business and how you want to account for the asset. We can walk you through both.

Vehicle finance repayment terms typically range from 12 to 60 months, depending on the lender, the value of the vehicle and your business circumstances. Longer terms reduce monthly payments but increase the total cost, so we always present options clearly so you can choose what works best for your cashflow.

Yes. If you are expanding your fleet, we can look at funding multiple vehicles as part of the same application or across separate agreements. Get in touch to discuss what you need.

VAT and Tax Loans

A VAT loan is a short-term finance product that allows you to pay your VAT bill to HMRC on time and spread the cost into fixed monthly repayments. Instead of paying the full amount upfront, you borrow the amount owed and repay it over an agreed term.

A VAT loan works by providing the funds needed to pay your HMRC bill before the deadline. You tell us the amount you need to cover, we search our panel of lenders and present suitable options. Once agreed, the funds are released so you can pay HMRC on time. You then repay the VAT loan in fixed monthly instalments over the agreed term, typically three to twelve months.

VAT is normally due to HMRC in full by the deadline on your return. If paying the full amount is difficult, many businesses use a VAT loan to pay HMRC on time and spread the cost into manageable monthly repayments.

Late VAT payment triggers penalties and interest from HMRC on the outstanding balance from the due date. A VAT loan allows you to pay HMRC on time and avoid those charges while spreading the cost over several months, keeping your business compliant and your cashflow protected.

VAT is usually due one month and seven days after the end of your VAT period. Most businesses submit quarterly returns, so the deadline comes around four times a year.

Most UK businesses submit VAT returns and make payments every three months. Because VAT builds up over a quarter, the bill can be substantial when it arrives, which is why many contractors use a VAT loan to spread the cost.

A corporation tax loan allows you to borrow the amount needed to pay your corporation tax bill to HMRC and spread the cost over fixed monthly repayments, rather than paying the full amount in one lump sum.

Corporation tax is usually due nine months and one day after the end of your accounting period. If that deadline is approaching and paying upfront would affect your cashflow, a corporation tax loan can help spread the cost.

HMRC will begin charging interest on any unpaid balance from the due date. Using a corporation tax loan means you can pay the bill on time and avoid those charges while managing the cost in smaller repayments.

A self-assessment loan works in the same way as a VAT or corporation tax loan. It allows you to cover your self-assessment tax bill and spread the repayment over several months, rather than paying HMRC the full amount in one go.

Business Loans and Working Capital

A business loan is a lump sum of funding that you borrow and repay over an agreed term with fixed monthly repayments. It can be secured against an asset or unsecured, depending on the lender and the amount required.

A business loan can be used for almost any legitimate business purpose. Common uses for scaffolding contractors include purchasing equipment or materials, covering operational costs, funding growth and new contracts, hiring staff, buying vehicles or managing short-term cashflow gaps between projects or payments.

Invoice finance allows you to unlock cash tied up in unpaid invoices before your customers have paid. Rather than waiting 30, 60 or 90 days for payment, you receive a percentage of the invoice value upfront from a lender.

Invoice finance works by advancing you a percentage of the value of an unpaid invoice before your customer has paid. You raise the invoice as normal and the lender advances you typically up to 90 percent of its value within a short timeframe. When your customer settles the invoice, the lender releases the remaining balance minus their fee. Invoice finance is particularly useful for scaffolding contractors on staged payment terms.

A bridging loan is a short-term finance product designed to bridge a gap between two financial events, such as waiting for a contract payment to arrive or completing a property purchase. They are typically arranged quickly and repaid within 12 months.

Bridging finance is useful when you need funds quickly and have a clear repayment route in the near future. For scaffolding contractors, common uses include covering a cashflow gap between contracts, funding urgent equipment purchases before a project starts, managing the period between finishing one job and receiving payment, or completing a time-sensitive transaction where standard finance would take too long.

Development finance is specialist funding used to support construction and property development projects. It is typically drawn down in stages as work progresses rather than as a single lump sum, and is repaid once the project is complete or the property is sold or refinanced.

Eligibility and Applications

We work with UK-registered limited companies operating in the scaffolding and construction sector. Applications are assessed individually and we consider businesses at various stages, from newer companies through to established contractors.

A strong credit score is not a requirement to apply for scaffolding finance. Lenders consider a range of factors beyond credit history, including trading history, contracts secured, turnover and overall affordability. If you have had credit issues in the past, options may still be available. Each application is reviewed individually and the best way to find out is to get in touch.

Document requirements vary depending on the type of finance and the lender. At the initial enquiry stage, very little is needed. If your application progresses, a lender may ask for three to six months of business bank statements, recent management accounts or year-end accounts, proof of identity for company directors, and evidence of contracts or projected work. We guide you through exactly what is needed at each stage so there are no surprises.

An initial quote can often be provided within 60 minutes. A funding decision is commonly made within 24 hours once full details have been submitted. The overall timeline depends on the finance type and how quickly any required documents can be provided.

Applying with a history of credit problems is possible and does not automatically disqualify you from scaffolding finance. Each application is reviewed on its own merits and lenders take a range of factors into account beyond credit history, including trading performance, contracts and affordability. Depending on your circumstances, suitable options may still be available. The best way to find out is to get in touch for a no-obligation conversation.

For most scaffolding finance products, funding starts from £3,000. The maximum varies depending on the type of finance, the assets involved and the strength of the application, but can reach £1 million for the right business. VAT and tax loans typically start from £5,000. If you are unsure whether your requirement fits within these ranges, get in touch and we will let you know what is possible.

No fixed minimum trading period is required to apply for scaffolding finance. Newer businesses can be considered, particularly where the director has relevant industry experience and contracts are in place. Lenders assess each application individually, so the best way to find out if you qualify is to get in touch and let us review your situation.

Broadly the same as any other business finance application through us, initial decisions are often possible within 24 hours, though the exact timeline depends on the lender and how complete your information is when you apply.

The same as a standard application: recent trading accounts or management information, details of what you’re financing, and basic company information. Your lender will confirm exactly what’s needed once you’re matched with them.

Not necessarily. Rates and fees are set by the lender, not the government, so it varies. In some cases, the guarantee helps a lender offer better terms than they otherwise could, since their risk is lower.

Applying may involve a standard credit check by the lender, the same as with any business finance application. The GGS guarantee itself doesn’t add an extra check on top, it’s the normal lending process either way.

Repayments and Costs

Repayments are based on the amount borrowed, the repayment term and the interest rate agreed with the lender. Before you commit to anything, you will receive a clear breakdown showing your monthly repayment and the total cost of the finance.

No. We provide a clear breakdown of all costs before you agree to anything. There are no surprise charges or hidden fees. If a lender charges an arrangement fee or any other cost, this will be shown upfront.

Early repayment is possible on some finance agreements, though it depends on the lender and the specific product. Some agreements allow early settlement, sometimes with a small early repayment fee. We make this clear when presenting your options so you can factor it into your decision before you commit.

Missing a repayment should be avoided where possible, but the most important step is to contact the lender as early as possible if you think a payment might be at risk. Most lenders will work with you if you communicate proactively. Missing repayments without notice can result in charges, default fees and may affect your credit profile going forward.

Repayment terms vary depending on the finance product. Equipment and vehicle finance typically runs from 12 to 60 months. VAT and tax loans are usually shorter, running from three to twelve months. We will always present options with repayment terms that suit your cashflow.

Partners and Referrals

The Scaffold Finance partner programme allows scaffolding suppliers and merchants to offer finance to their customers. We handle the finance, your customers get a flexible way to buy, and you receive direct payment for every completed deal. We also provide full training and support for your sales team.

Any scaffolding supplier, merchant or service provider who sells to scaffolding and construction businesses can apply to become a partner. Get in touch and we will talk you through how it works.

The referral scheme works by rewarding you for introducing scaffolding or construction businesses that go on to receive funding through Scaffold Finance. Submit a referral using our online form with the contact details of the business you are introducing. Our team reaches out to them directly. When their finance completes, your reward is paid out. There is no limit on the number of referrals you can make.

Your referral reward is paid once the finance has completed and funds have been released to the business you introduced. We will confirm the exact reward amount and payment process when you register as a referrer. Payments are made directly to you with no need to chase or follow up.

Yes. There is no limit on the number of referrals you can make and a reward is paid for each one that results in completed funding.
