Helping a customer upgrade their fleet

We helped a customer upgrade their existing fleet of scaffold trucks to comply with the introduction of the Portsmouth Clean Air Zone (CAZ).

What is the Portsmouth CAZ?

On their website they explain that “some areas of Portsmouth have levels of pollutants, like nitrogen dioxide, that are likely to remain above safe legal limits unless we take strong action quickly.” They also mention how the vehicles contribute to “50% of air pollution.” This is a very high percentage and so changing the way that vehicles are used on the roads will help decrease this number. The scheme launches on the 29th of November this year. This finance project therefore needed to be completed in a short amount of time. This was to ensure the client had the vehicles well before the start date of the scheme. Had they not upgraded any of their trucks, they would have had to pay a daily penalty charge.

Future plans in helping the customer upgrade their fleet

As mentioned on our customer page, Scaffold Finance are now financing a further two trucks for them to help ensure that their fleet of vehicles are fully compliant with the Portsmouth CAZ. We also included a 2-month VAT deferral for our client. This meant that our client was able to pay the VAT in line with the end of their VAT quarter.
